This one is for Bryson’s big boy room, which isn’t even close to being started but the theme is planned.
“Things that Go.”
This will include cars, planes, trucks, trains, etc. The boy loves, loves, LOVES everything that goes, and he is our favorite “thing that goes!”
This is my 8th project in less than a year, all with the same gal. I just love working with Marcy because she is a retired art teacher who is also a very successful artist here in the area. Her art sells for thousands of dollars a piece, so I really feel that I’m learning a lot every time I go and paint with her! I noticed tonight that I was doing a lot of the work on this painting before she got to instructing the technique, and I was spot-on. I AM LEARNING! I have another one scheduled for later this month for our wild Halloween decorations – we LOVE Halloween around here!
Here is a gallery of what we have in our house from my painting adventures so far… only one piece is not hung yet and that’s just because it needs a “clear coat” applied to it before it goes up in the guest bathroom.

This is so cool. I wish something like this existed here. It’s just so neat that the kids will have so many of mom’s paintings around! I actually really love the moose one, but the cow is probably my favorite too.
So, was Matthew not so obsessed with things that go? Andy is OBSESSED. At this point everything with wheels catches his eye (and is called an “-oche,” missing the “c” on “coche”), including things like wagons and airplanes. He tolerates me reading stories to him only so that he can search out every wheel on the page. It’s so quintessential BOY. I kind of love it. 😉

Matthew loves his trucks, but more from an engineering standpoint. He likes knowing how they work and what each ones does. Bryson loves them for their ability to GO!!!!
Books at night are different… Matthew is all about space and science, Bryson wants train, car, bus, and fire truck books. It’s amazing how different they are!

How fun that you’ve painted all of these! You saw the one that I did in our kitchen, and JJ painted the same one which is up in our bathroom. The reason I haven’t done more is because I haven’t fallen in love with a pattern or design that I feel like we just have to have in our house. But you’ve made space for them and that is so cool to be able to say that you did them yourself!

The gal who teaches it is independent and her design selection is very different from the chains we have here. She even will do a class with a design you ask for. I asked for a plane a while back, so she created a class for it. Super fun!!
Yours in the kitchen was GREAT!!!!

These are all so great!! Love the plane!! I love that you have done these and that you have them all over your home. Like No Baby Ruth said, I wish there was something like that here. Such a fun idea! The cow is my fav too. So good!! I wish I had a way to do that one my self. Anthony loves cows.. as does my cow. Would be a perfect gift for either of them.
