Success On Many Fronts

We’re home from our trip.

There is so much to say about our time away:

I cried in the driveway but never again, I SPENT HOURS AND HOURS PUMPING WITH A PLUGGED DUCT, we ate like fools (and kings), WE WALKED EVERYWHERE, the festival made us feel old and off our games, WE MET UP WITH OUR FUN FRIENDS 3 OF THE 4 DAYS THERE, Bryson got very sick with a nasty fever and vomiting but recovered after 2 days, BOTH BOYS DID JUST FINE WITHOUT US, my in-laws were exhausted when we got home, WE ABSOLUTELY LOVE THAT PART OF COLORADO, we had the time of our lives together, I “DONATED” MY PUMPED MILK AFTER BEING DISTRAUGHT OVER DUMPING 11 OUNCES DOWN THE DRAIN, Bryson did not wean himself one bit while I was gone (yay!), WE ALMOST FORGOT TO CALL HOME ON SATURDAY, neither of us slept well at all, WE’RE READY TO TAKE ANOTHER TRIP WITHOUT THE BOYS, we fell in love all over again.

Hi, there, I’m Courtney. I never planned to stay home with my kids, but I got sucked into motherhood when my first baby came into our lives after years of infertility and multiple rounds of IVF. His brother followed closely behind, something we didn’t plan on after having such a rough road with achieving parenthood the first time around. My boys are IVF cycle twins, conceived on the same day but born two years and one day apart (they were both transferred on the same day in October, but with two years between them). My boys are the best of friends and my husband is a terrific husband, father, and most importantly… friend. He fully supported my desire to stay home (“I just wanted it to be your idea and not mine, I totally want you to stay home and raise our kids!”) and encourages me in everything I do. I am a lover of projects, spreadsheets, fitness, healthy cooking and eating, crafts, selling my stuff on FB (HA!), and the outdoors. If I’m active, I’m pretty darn happy!

  1. This is fantastic. I’m so glad you enjoyed your time away and had a blast, and more importantly fell in love again. Swoon!! Sorry to hear B got sick. I can imagine how exhausted your in-laws were. Caring for kids is a lot of work, especially when you aren’t used to doing it ever day. I’m envisioning a trip away for just JJ and I. It sounds wonderful! 🙂

    • You MUST go on a trip together, even if just up to Des Moines 😉 It was great being so far away, because I couldn’t panic about Bryson and drive home. Had we gone to KC or MSP, I would have insisted that we drive back.

  2. I’m so bummed we didn’t discuss the milk thing before those first 11 oz got thrown! But Harv has been drinking up all week, happy as a clam. Thank you so much!

So glad you had fun on the vacation – it was awesome to have you guys out here! I think it’s funny the festival made you feel old when so many of the ppl there are much older than us. 🙂 Char and I definitely realized we weren’t 24 anymore though, so I hear ya.

    • Yeah, the people who were older than us didn’t seem as wild and crazy as the younger people. The last time I got drunk was a few months ago and I swore I’d never do it again – no amount of fun is worth the hangover I had (Matthew came into our closet and found me sleeping on the floor, and asked Hottie why Mommy was in the closet). I got a nice little buzz on and that was good for me!

      • Yep, I fully intend to get drunk in STL next Friday night at my friend’s wedding – no kids to take care of the next day is what makes the prospect of a hangover worth it. 🙂 I’m glad you had fun!

  3. I love that you fell in love again and you look great Court!! Time together away from kids is super important xx

  4. I love the last words you wrote here, about falling in love all over again. So glad you got to get away.
