Monday Snapshot – Extended Bedtime

Matthew woke up tired, and a bit cranky.  After breakfast, I decided to try to let him sleep longer.  This happened… for 2+ hours.

2 hours in and he’s still out cold. Heaven for mama!

Awwwwe…. snuggles!

Awake and searching for Lily, the kitty!

Hi, there, I’m Courtney. I never planned to stay home with my kids, but I got sucked into motherhood when my first baby came into our lives after years of infertility and multiple rounds of IVF. His brother followed closely behind, something we didn’t plan on after having such a rough road with achieving parenthood the first time around. My boys are IVF cycle twins, conceived on the same day but born two years and one day apart (they were both transferred on the same day in October, but with two years between them). My boys are the best of friends and my husband is a terrific husband, father, and most importantly… friend. He fully supported my desire to stay home (“I just wanted it to be your idea and not mine, I totally want you to stay home and raise our kids!”) and encourages me in everything I do. I am a lover of projects, spreadsheets, fitness, healthy cooking and eating, crafts, selling my stuff on FB (HA!), and the outdoors. If I’m active, I’m pretty darn happy!

  1. Sleep seems to be some sort of a trend this week…I wish I could get Raegan to do that with me, but she’ll only sleep on her daddy….sucks when she’s super crabby and all she needs to do is sleep, but she won’t do it….Hope Lilly was ably to hide out from him 🙂

  2. Ahhhhh, I’m so jealous of all the snuggle time you get with that boy! He looks so darn cute in that first picture. And I thought he was still sleeping in the last picture until I read the caption, haha!

    • Lily would not approve of him sleeping on the floor, so close to her little cave 😉 She usually sleeps under his crib for his entire nap, but she wasn’t even under there today when he looked.

I do get a lot of snuggle time. I’m lucky! I know it will be gone all too soon 😦

      • I totally thought he’d fallen asleep in that corner, too! Sofia used to never lie on the floor, but now at daycare they nap on mats instead of in cribs and she’s since taken to resting her little head. So I thought maybe Matthew was so sleepy he passed out there! But looking for Lily is even cuter!

  3. He’s just so handsome! Is he taking one or two naps now? I would LOVE it if Aiden would nap on me for 2 hours…that would be my idea of a perfect day! 🙂

    • He naps just once a day (usually) for 2-3 hours. We sometimes get more than 3 hours, but that’s unusual. There were 2 days that he only slept 1.5 ours and that’s not enough when he’s only napping once. We have it all turned back around now and back to 1 very long nap a day. It’s glorious!

      • Just throwing my two cents in here – Sofia is almost the same as Matthew. On the weekends she’ll nap typically right around 2.5 hours for 1 nap. And she’s a happy girl. At daycare it seems that she can never get longer than 2 hours and it’s frequently 1.75. And she’s quite a bit grouchier. Damn daycare! I think she clearly needs 1 2-3 hour nap each day.

  4. Haha – i was thinking you were going to say he was sleeping in that last picture as well!! 🙂

  5. Too cute! I thought he was asleep! I have a photo of me as a kid asleep like that. He is growing up so much.

  6. awwww, i love those sleeping cuddles. The best. absolute best. glad you got to soak some up today!

  7. Oh this is so sweet! I want sleeping cuddles!!! Alex will not sleep on me to save her life. Matthew is just adorable!

  8. I totally thought he was sleeping in that last picture too! HA!

  9. Oh, so sweet… I don’t know that I’ve ever been able to sit with either of my girls for two hours because the other would ultimately need me before then, boo. I get my snuggles in spurts 🙂

    • Hey, you do what you can do, right? I do think that this is very unusual for this age. All conditions must be perfect for me to achieve this. Tired baby, full tummy, rough wake-up, and a blackened room. If any one of those things is missing – it isn’t happening.

  10. I love the first pic with his rosie cheeks…so cute!
