All the Sun For You

A mom, two boys, a husband, and a whole lot of adventure!

The Monday Snapshot – BOOKED!

It’s been 2 years since we took a REAL vacation.  We took a “Babymoon” to Cap.tiva Isla.nd in March 2011 and had a great time.  I was 5 months pregnant at the time which was great timing.  This time, I’ll be 6.5 months pregnant, which will be different, but I think it will be JUST FINE… because WE ARE GOING TO DIS.NEYW.ORLD!

I have tried to get B to go to Disne.ywo.rld for years, because I think it’s super fun for adults.  It’s never been very high on his list (in fact, it’s at the very bottom of his list).  BUT – I want us to take a trip that is super FUN for Matthew.  And it needs to be easy for B and me.  Traveling with a toddler is hard work, so direct flights are a must.  We have one to Orlando from central Iowa (amazing).  Traveling with a toddler is exhausting for us and said toddler, so a comfortable place with lots of space is a must for naps and regrouping.  Traveling with a toddler is messy, so laundry in-unit is pretty important.  Traveling in general is expensive, and cutting down on meal costs would be AWESOME!  Our unit has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a full kitchen, and in-unit laundry.  I am so excited!  It’s not on Disn.ey grounds, but it’s very close and just getting a mile off the grounds saves so much money in accommodation costs.

So yeah – we’re going to Disn.eyw.orld, Baby… in just over two weeks!  I don’t think I’ve been this excited about anything since the FET worked back in October!*

“Can I take my blueberries with me? Yes? Then it sounds good to me, Mom!”

* I am revising this…. I haven’t been this excited since we found out that BB2/Wilson is a boy!!!!! That still takes the cake for excitement for me!

This is my contribution to the Monday Snapshot at PAIL Bloggers.  Check it out!

Hi, there, I’m Courtney. I never planned to stay home with my kids, but I got sucked into motherhood when my first baby came into our lives after years of infertility and multiple rounds of IVF. His brother followed closely behind, something we didn’t plan on after having such a rough road with achieving parenthood the first time around. My boys are IVF cycle twins, conceived on the same day but born two years and one day apart (they were both transferred on the same day in October, but with two years between them). My boys are the best of friends and my husband is a terrific husband, father, and most importantly… friend. He fully supported my desire to stay home (“I just wanted it to be your idea and not mine, I totally want you to stay home and raise our kids!”) and encourages me in everything I do. I am a lover of projects, spreadsheets, fitness, healthy cooking and eating, crafts, selling my stuff on FB (HA!), and the outdoors. If I’m active, I’m pretty darn happy!

  1. Oooh – I am so jealous. This sounds awesome!! Have fun!!

    • Thank you! I have been jealous of peopel for YEARS when they get to go to Disney, and I am finally going (I went for a conference back in 2000 but only spent 2 days on the grounds)! I really, REALLY wanted to go “as adults” before it turns into the trip that is ALL ABOUT THE KIDS. This is our last chance!

  2. Yay have fun!!!!!! I can’t wait for the pics!!!!

  3. I’m SUPER jealous….it’ll be a few years before we can get down there…hopefully after baby #3 is old enough….It’s gonna take that long to save up 🙂 Hope you have a fabulous time…Babe and I went for our 1 year anniversary….I would love to go again. And you’re right…so much fun for adults!

    • Look at you talking about Baby #3 already! So this did get in the way of the KC trip, but I will be in CHICAGO next week, hopefully! Are you in town?

      • I’m old…I don’t have time to waste 🙂 #3 is our last FET. If it works, great, if not we’re cool with that. But I am hopeful 🙂

Bummer you can’t make it, but if I had to choose, Disney would win over KC in my opinion. No hurt feelings here. I’d rather go to Disney LOL no offense to KC.

I’m here for the weekend, but unfortunately, it’s my holiday to work 😦 so I’ll be working all weekend. We’ll get together soon enough!

      • I don’t have time to waste either! We’re the same age, you know. You call yourself old, and you’re calling me old 😉

I won’t be coming to Chicago next week afterall. Given my kitty situation, I don’t want to board her for 10 days in the month of April.

      • I’ve got 13 months on you dear….LOL and Babe is old too…he’ll be 43 this year.

And I don’t blame you…spend the time with your furry…she needs her mom right now…I totally understand. We’ll get together soon enough. Take care of you and yours…

  4. So jealous! We took our son last spring- I was 5 months pregnant with Eliza and we wanted at least one vacation that was just the three of us. We’d been places as a family but was always to visit other family members or other family members went with us so we really wanted a trip for just us before baby sister arrived. Best trip we ever had- sooo glad we went and now we’re all looking forward to going when Eliza is a little older!

    • Thank you for this comment – you have totally confirmed what I’ve been saying for 2 weeks now! THIS IS ABOUT MATTHEW HAVING FUN BEFORE HE’S A BIG BROTHER and it’s our last family vacation as a family of 3! This comment means the world to me! 😉

  5. Fabulous! I know you will have a blast! Can’t wait to hear about it and see pictures!

  6. I think Disney World will be the perfect Babymoon, especially for Matthew, he’ll have such a wonderful time! Sounds like you really lucked out with the accommodations, can’t wait to see pictures!

    • Thank you for this comment! I agree that Matthew will have a GREAT time! Some people say he’s too young, but I totally disagree! And like B shockingly said today – sure he won’t remember it, which means we’ll take him back in a few years!

  7. You are going to have so much fun!!! 🙂 I love Disney and keep trying to convince Anthony since it really isn’t very far from here, but he says we’ll wait until Lids is a bit older. I can’t wait… especially as Anthony has never been! Can’t wait to see all your photos and hear how it goes. You will have a blast, I am sure!! So fun!

    • No – go now when you can still do fun things for YOU! It will be totally different when the kids are even just a bit older. That was my logic, anyway! I will post photos of Matthew having the time of his life so you can show A how much fun it is for a toddler!

  8. Yay for Disneyworld! I hope you guys have a fabulous time!

  9. How fun that you just went for it and booked the trip! I am sure you all will have a fantastic time and I can just picture Matthew’s face in amazement at all the things to look at there. It will be priceless for sure! Take video! I went when I was 5 and that’s the one family video I could watch over and over again.

  10. It’s funny, I’ve never understood why anyone would ever want to subject themselves to Disney World as an adult, but the more I talk about it with parents, the more I understand why — they really make it SO easy for parents. You can eat a decent meal at 5 p.m. and not worry about your child making too much noise or fuss, the kids are constantly entertained, everything is in one place, etc. I’m sure we’ll end up doing this at some point down the road… take lots of pics while you’re there!

  11. Sounds like it’s going to be a BLAST!!! Jealous of your vacation! 😉

  12. I’m so excited for you guys and I just know that Matthew is going to have a blast. And that’s what it’s all about.

Also, I’m terribly jealous. I love Disney. LOVE IT. Eat a Reese’s pieces covered chocolate-dipped Mickey rice-krispie treat for me, okay?

    • Thank you! I am excited too! This trip is a god-send for us! When B came home yesterday after the Lily news, I said, “thank God I booked yesterday, huh, or we probably would not be going now.” He agreed, and we’re both so glad we booked it when we did.

PS – rental car is booked – and it appears to be pretty effing awesome 😉 HA!

  13. Oh my goodness! I LOVE Disneyworld. You are going to have an amazing time. Can’t wait to hear about it and see pictures.

  14. So fun! We are going to Disneyworld in mid-may! Please let me know what your tips are to Disney with a toddler! Have a wonderful time!
