The Monday Snapshot(s) – More Holiday Love!

I swore long ago, LONG AGO, that I would never have two things at my house during the holidays – colored lights on my tree (aside from my vintage accent globe lights) and lawn ornaments in my front yard.

Well, I happily have colored lights on my tree because, well, babies/kids like colored lights. Matthew loves his tree with colored lights – and I wouldn’t have it any other way (until next year when my old tree returns and his tree goes into his room in the kitchen).

And… I now have the CUTEST little lawn ornament! We went to Targ.et to get some lights for the yard and fell in love with this cute little polar bear. I am a sucker for polar bears – I appreciate their plight to survive and just think they’re awesome – so there was no way this guy wasn’t coming home with us! I got him, and the lights on the bushes, all setup last night and since then, Matthew must hug and kiss his bear every time we come home from somewhere.

Hi, there, I’m Courtney. I never planned to stay home with my kids, but I got sucked into motherhood when my first baby came into our lives after years of infertility and multiple rounds of IVF. His brother followed closely behind, something we didn’t plan on after having such a rough road with achieving parenthood the first time around. My boys are IVF cycle twins, conceived on the same day but born two years and one day apart (they were both transferred on the same day in October, but with two years between them). My boys are the best of friends and my husband is a terrific husband, father, and most importantly… friend. He fully supported my desire to stay home (“I just wanted it to be your idea and not mine, I totally want you to stay home and raise our kids!”) and encourages me in everything I do. I am a lover of projects, spreadsheets, fitness, healthy cooking and eating, crafts, selling my stuff on FB (HA!), and the outdoors. If I’m active, I’m pretty darn happy!

OH the white light versus the colored light debate….My family is torn apart by the whole debate….My mom, my brother and I are all colored lights people. My dad, and both my sisters are white lights people. Although my mom likes the outside lights to be all white. I love the look of the white lights. It’s so pretty and elegant, but I’m not pretty or elegant. I like the less formal look of the colored lights….although with the outside lights, I don’t like the colored light “icicle” lights… HATE THEM. But otherwise I’m a colored girl! LOL

  You hate them because they don’t make sense – icicles are white/blue-ish – they’re not colored so why would you have colored lights for icicles? Makes no sense at all!

What a cute little bear! Plus it’s wintery and not tacky, so that’s good. I hate tacky lawn ornaments, but I do tend to make an exception around the holidays, at least in YOUR yard (in other words, I love looking at over-the-top crazy holiday light displays at OTHER peoples’ houses!). I’m a colored light girl myself, as that’s what we always had, but I have white lights here. Go figure.

  OMG – we drive around every night looking for over-the-top displays! I would never do one, but love seeing them. HA! We found one the other night set to music and I didn’t want to leave!
