The Monday Snapshot(s) – CG Cures All

It’s no secret – we’ve had a rough week.  That rough week led into an even rougher weekend and today was the worst so far for our sick little guy.  This cold, whatever the hell it is, is a bad one!  Matthew’s been stuffy for a couple weeks at a time, but not like this – not with a fever too.

As everyone knows, we watch a little “Curi.ous Geo.rge” every morning together as a family.  Matthew usually dances to the opening credits, drinks his milk, and then gets off the bed to cruise around and play with his toys in our bedroom.  Today – he snuggled.  Today – he watched an entire episode (consists of two short stories) like this:

Heaven!

This is part of PAIL’s Monday Snapshot… go on over and check out all the others!

** Quick update – we went to the doctor today.  Matthew has a double ear infection with his right ear drum near rupturing.  He smiled and played with the doctor the entire time – he is showing no signs of pain aside from last night when he couldn’t sleep.  The doctor said that he’s in heaps of pain and that he’s had this for days.  I feel terrible.  He is such a good “sick baby” that he gave us no signs until last night that things were (really) bad.  😦

Hi, there, I’m Courtney. I never planned to stay home with my kids, but I got sucked into motherhood when my first baby came into our lives after years of infertility and multiple rounds of IVF. His brother followed closely behind, something we didn’t plan on after having such a rough road with achieving parenthood the first time around. My boys are IVF cycle twins, conceived on the same day but born two years and one day apart (they were both transferred on the same day in October, but with two years between them). My boys are the best of friends and my husband is a terrific husband, father, and most importantly… friend. He fully supported my desire to stay home (“I just wanted it to be your idea and not mine, I totally want you to stay home and raise our kids!”) and encourages me in everything I do. I am a lover of projects, spreadsheets, fitness, healthy cooking and eating, crafts, selling my stuff on FB (HA!), and the outdoors. If I’m active, I’m pretty darn happy!

  1. awww so sweet…..Raegan has finally pretty much returned to normal…but now the cuddles are few and far between….of course she falls asleep on Babe’s chest….so NOT fair!

    • B would say the same thing about Matthew falling asleep on me 😉 I try to spread the love and have him try to put him down, but Matthew won’t have it. He’s a creature of habit!

  2. Aww sorry to hear he is still feeling so rough. I hope tomorrow morning brings a happy, healthy feeling little fella. However, glad you got to enough those extra snuggles today! It looks so cozy and I am sure just what everyone needed! 🙂

    • Thanks! We found out on Monday that he has a double ear infection. UGH. Poor kid has had it since Thursday when his fever started, but didn’t show us any signs until Sunday night. I feel like a bad mom.

  3. 😦 Hope he feels better very soon!

  4. Duuuuuuude…..I feel you. I’m actually jealous that M is such a snuggle bunny. I hope he wakes up today feeling MUCH better and shakes the toddler zombie scourge!

(Getting my new laptop end of the week! Post-holiday Skype vent? Yay!)

  5. We have been seeing lots of these cuddles in our house too. We might end up taking Chloe back to the doctor. She’s keeping food down, but now has a bad cough (maybe cold, or strep…no!). Not sure what to do for a sore throat in a little one. I swear, we are never traveling again if this is the outcome!! Good thing we went out with a bang meeting all the wonderful ladies we did. Feel better little dude, didn’t you get the memo the holidays are coming?!

  6. Poor kiddo. I bet he just feels miserable! Hope he feels better in time for Thanksgiving and that you are also getting some rest as well.

  7. Ohh, I’m sorry he’s so sick, but how wonderful that he’s so cuddly!

  8. I wish K was as cuddly as him!!! You guys look adorable!

  9. Poor Matthew! How is it possible for some people to have such a high pain threshold? Crazy. I’m a big wimp.

Glad that, at least, if you had to be sick you could enjoy some snuggly time together ❤

(Sorry, this post has been open in my browser window for nearly a WEEK now and I'm only just finally commenting!)

  10. Sorry that the little guy was feeling so crappy, although the snuggles sure are nice.

Just a word to the wise: my mom was warned about my high threshold for pain after I had a double ear infection with two ruptured eardrums… later in life I had a torn ACL without knowing it for sometime. 😮

    • I know – and thank you for saying that. I need to be more vigilant with him. I’ve already been better – checking for more teeth when he’s fussy, taking his temp when he cries for no reason (very rarely happens), etc. So far so good, but I need to be more proactive with him because of this.
